FAQs
1
Do you offer hourly or half-day recording sessions?
To ensure the highest quality results, we do not offer short hourly sessions. Tilehouse operates exclusively on full-day lockouts (8 hours). This gives us the necessary time to properly set up the analogue outboard gear, tune the room, and capture the best live performances without rushing the creative process.
2
What are your standard day rates?
Our full-day lockout rates for independent/unsigned artists start at £500. This rate includes the studio space, a dedicated engineer/producer, and full access to our vintage backline and analogue equipment. We also offer comprehensive fixed-fee Production Packages for multi-song projects. Please contact us with your project details for a custom quote.
3
Do you offer fixed-price packages for complete projects?
Yes. For unsigned bands looking to record, mix, and master 1 to 3 songs, we offer all-in "Production Packages." These are fixed-fee agreements that include multi-day tracking, 2-inch tape hire, and complete post-production. This allows you to focus entirely on the music with a locked-in budget. Contact us with your project details for a custom package quote.
4
Can I hire the studio for analogue mixing, mastering or printing stems to tape?
Absolutely. We offer remote analogue mastering, stem mastering, and direct-to-tape laybacks for artists and producers worldwide. You can send us your digital mixes securely online, and we will process them through our 1970 Studer 189 console and Studer A800 tape machine to give your tracks genuine analogue warmth and width.
5
What instruments and gear are included in the studio hire?
Booking the studio gives you full access to our extensive collection of vintage backline and instruments. This includes our classic 1960's Ludwig Superclassic and 1950's Gretsch Round Badge drum kits, a wide selection of solid-body and semi-hollow electric guitars, and our studio keyboards, including an original Mellotron M400
6
Can I drop by to view the studio before booking?
Tilehouse Studios is a highly secure, private commercial facility and residence. To protect the privacy and creative focus of our recording clients, access is strictly by appointment only. We do not accommodate unannounced visits or drop-ins under any circumstances. If you are looking to book a multi-day session, we are happy to arrange a scheduled video tour or a private walkthrough.
7
Do you offer work experience, internships, or assistant roles?
Due to the highly focused nature of our tracking sessions and the private environment of the studio, we are unfortunately unable to offer work experience, internships, or shadowing opportunities at this time. We operate with a very small, dedicated team and are not currently looking to take on any new assistants or accept unsolicited CVs. We wish all graduates the very best in their audio careers!
